The Local Government Commission has ruled that next years PN LG Election will consist of 15 Councillors and will use the Ward System using five Wards rather than six {Ashhurst and Fitzherbert will combine].

This is an absolute slap in the face for some Councillors and a clear victory for those citizens who appeared in front of the Commission when it met here in Palmerston North some months ago and without doubt proves the strength of the submissions.

Some Councillors and possible Mayoral candidates will now need to reconsider their strategies for the upcoming elections.

Common sense has prevailed and the citizen's can now unite and design collective strategies to bring democracy back to the LG scene here in Palmerston North.
