The hype is around YouTube right now, with their new "monetization model" and the fact that various candidates have announced running through it, etc.

The real power of the Internet is in writing and making connections. Video and audio files do not allow for the flexibility posts and writing has inherently, and if Clay Shirky is right, and it is how users can play with something that matters - note the number of uses mp3's have over files that define CD quality audio - then blogging and networking is what we should be paying attention to.

The big question with MySpace is whether it is too ghetto to make money. I want to see people discuss that, esp. as being an attractive girl on MySpace will get you 9283749279729 visitors, whereas being a talented poet might get you 3 in the same amount of time. That's bad, seriously bad - if the Internet offers anything, it is the possibility of being appreciated for one's thought more than one's looks. We have the non-virtual world for that.
