puff 583 Thurs 9th

From Wheelers Corner
The Wikileaks website has hit the headlines and the main stream media is in a spin has it knells down to its corporate backers. The US is busy creating a reason to shut down Wikileaks website. One Wheeler’s Corner reader reached the hub of the hypocrisy that surrounds the leaks with this short paragraph.

“Its bipolar disorder on a national scale isn’t it? Saudi Arabia asks the US to bomb Iran ; “terrorism in the making”, and Wikileaks becomes the designated terrorist for alerting the world to ‘terrorism in the making”. In almost any other context Wikileaks would be given medals for exposing “a terrorist plot”.

Another reader responded with this short but superb response. “Since when has logic or evidence determined key aspects of US foreign policy – hysteria, fabrication and power politics dominate and have for many, many years. Why would they let the facts get in the way, especially when they involve embarrassment and exposure?”

As noted author and war correspondent Chris Hedges wrote:

“Hope knows that unless we physically defy government control we are complicit in the violence of the state. All who resist keep hope alive; all who succumb to fear, despair, and apathy become the enemies of hope. They become, in their passivity, agents of injustice.
